When Nathan Davis started as director of jazz studies at the University of Pittsburgh, he initially said that he would give it three years. Davis also founded and directed Pitt's annual jazz seminar in and helped create the William Pitt Union's International Academy of Jazz Hall. Davis retired as director of the Jazz Studies Program at Pitt in Davis also served as the editor of the International Jazz Archives Journal. One.
